James Bridle • Whitby hand rail
Back in late September, me and my 2 friends were soo eager to get out riding, but we had no snow! so we got some snow from a local arena, loaded up the truck, and went to a handrail on one side of town. It was a pretty gnarly down flat down rail. We got the lights set up, drop in ready to go, lip all good. On my first hit, i slid the down, but fell off to the side just before the kink. I fell and landed chest first onto the flat of the rail. So i dropped around 6 or 7 feet down onto the side of ... Read Full Story.
Chris Prochnow • Winter Park, CO
I was skiing down the backside of Winter Park last season by myself. I usually tuck my gloves inside my coat, but this time I left my right glove on but slightly exposing my wrist. I decided just to do a quick run because the snow conditions weren't very good. Coming around a group of trees, I saw I was going to come very close to a small shrub sticking out about a foot. I thought, no big deal, I can get pretty close to it. I was skiing pretty fast and my right ski ended up getting stuck in some... Read Full Story.
David Fantozzi • Heavenly Mountian. Mott Canyon
Dude! My glove is caught. No problem the lift operator said with a grin. Those few simple words brought me back to reality. It was the last day of our 4 day heavenly ski trip. My wife and I had been skiing powder all day. 8 inches had fallen the night before making the tree skiing the best yet. 2pm came and took my wife, exhausted for the day, off the mountain. As she headed for our casino retreat, I heard the call of Mott canyon. Three years ago on a similar trip I edged close to the cany... Read Full Story.
Anthony Cuppone • Killington Vt
Dear Swany, Here is my story: I've tried to make it as short as possible. I have been skiing for about 20 years and spending my last 10 winter seasons living in Killington Vt. I really don't count my skiing days, but because of my obsessive personality , I end up skiing about 4-6 days a week for 100+ days a year. In July of 2005, I met Joanne on the island of Nantucket. From the beginning I very much liked this girl. Let me mention here that she is from Liverpool England (she's a Scouse... Read Full Story.
Joshua Grosser • Park City, UT & Bear Valley, CA
I live in San Francisco and ski at Bear Valley, three hours away, every weekend throughout the winter. Last March I quit my job to take a new one and had a week off between the two. On that Wednesday my sister calls to tell me that two of her clients can not make a corporate trip to Park City for the US Ski Team freestyle championships. All I had to do was get there, everything else was covered. I quickly called my fiance, booked us flights for Thursday morning and took off to my in-laws cabin i... Read Full Story.
Grant A Davis • Heavenly Ski Resort, South Lake Tahoe, Nevada
A story about skiing? Okay! Lets start at the beginning. I was 12 and it was my first year out at Heavenly with my dad who has been going out there since the 80's. I picked up skiing real fast and was already doing black diamonds my first week. My second year out there was the most dangerous you could say. With fresh new ski on I was rippin' the mountain apart and loved to showboat around doing hockey stop and spraying the snow; Unfortunately so did my dad (It runs in the family). We were going ...
